After spending almost twenty years in Germany, Pape Ndiaye has returned to Senegal. Having initially gone to the immigration office to renew his residence papers, he was forced to return to his country of origin. Although he was well established and had a stable job in Germany, his return was a psychological shock for him. Faced with the consequences of his repatriation, he decided to take up farming.
Today, Pape Ndiaye lives in Mbeye, a village located a few minutes from Bambilor (25 km from Dakar), where he diversifies his production, growing everything from vegetables to peanuts and onions. He has also set up a poultry farm. However, his investments are now being threatened by the Dakar-Saint Louis toll highway project, which is expected to criss-cross his farm. Drawing on his migration experience, Pape Ndiaye is now worried about the misinformation surrounding this issue.
