“About us”
“The world has been populated by migration,” is a common saying. Migration is an important part of human life. The information disseminated on migration has given this topic political and even ideological stakes that go far beyond those of the migrants. From being a human issue, migration is now at the center of political and social rifts and issues with the rise of xenophobia and populism whose first victims are always the migrants. These aspects end up dehumanising migrants. We refer to them as “vulgar packages” that we do not know what to do with.
Therefore, there is a strong need to have more accurate information on this issue to bring the subject back to the level it should be: a human issue. From war to climate change, from economic poverty to ethno-racial discrimination…, there are many causes but migration is undertaken by humans for an entirely human motive, that is to say, to flee adversity in order to live and survive. The biased media coverage leads us to believe that there are other reasons and this distorted vision of the migration phenomenon contributes to stigmatisation and fuelling stereotypes.
In light of these observations, this web platform dialoguemigration.com is put online to ensure a balanced treatment of issues related to migration, with the aim of providing the public with the most just and balanced information that will be consistent with the respect of human rights and the dignity of the person. Special emphasis is placed on women and minors. This web platform is powered by an editorial team whose publications will cover the following areas:
