Khadim Mbaye Sam, also known as Khadim Mbaye Sam Pastef, has lived a migratory and spiritual journey shaped deeply by his faith and his search for meaning. Born in Kaolack, he grew up in several Senegalese towns, notably Koki, where he attended a Koranic school from the age of six and spent much of his childhood.
He then moved to Spain, where he lived for ten years before settling in Bordeaux. It was in Bordeaux that his life took a decisive turn: his spiritual encounter with Serigne Touba. Through casual conversations with fellow countrymen and, later, the discovery of his teachings online, Sam developed a deep connection to the ideas and work of the founder of Mouridism.
He joined the Dahra Touba Bordeaux Mubawwabu Sidqin under the guidance of Serigne Boubacar Fofana and gave himself to the group. Inspired by Mame Cheikh Ibrahima Fall’s devotion, hard work and loyalty to Serigne Touba, Sam also took up the Baay Faal path.
For Sam, being Baay Faal is not just about belonging; it is a way of life built on faith in Allah, hard work and community spirit. Despite the challenges of life in the diaspora, he strives to uphold these values in the Bordeaux community, and hopes to establish a religious and cultural centre.
Driven by gratitude for the meaningful encounters he has had, he urges the members of his community to get more involved and to follow in Serigne Touba’s footsteps. Serigne Touba’s legacy rests on hard work, faith and the transmission of knowledge.
