Before arriving in a country like the Democratic Republic of Congo, you must first have clear information on how the visa is granted. In the DRC, the Directorate-General for Migration (DGM) is empowered to issue visas to foreigners wishing to visit the country, provided they apply for them. Before applying, you must know which type of visa you want.
Airport visa
The DGM grants an airport visa, issued at the port of entry. This visa is valid for 7 days and allows visitors who want to extend their stay to take the necessary steps while already in the country.
Flying visa
For those who do not want the seven-day visa, it is possible to take a flying visa. The latter is often granted by the Director General of the DGM to a foreigner coming from a country where the DRC has no diplomatic or consular representation. This authorization allows the traveler to arrive at the border and benefit from an airport visa to enter the Congolese territory.
Travel visa
For travelers, the travel visa gives beneficiaries the opportunity to cross the border. It is obtained from the services attached to the diplomatic and consular missions of the DRC abroad. This visa is acquired after fulfilling certain conditions such as holding a valid passport, having sufficient means of subsistence and being supported by a legal or natural person regularly established in the DRC. Foreign traders should be aware that this visa does not allow the exercise of a remunerated activity in the country and its validity is 6 months.
Settlement visa
And finally, there are settlement visas. They are issued to foreigners wishing to settle in the DRC and confer not only the status of residence but also the possibility to exercise professional or economic activities under the conditions set by law.
If you want to come to the DRC, you have the choice regarding the type of visa that best suits you.
