Born into the world of cinema and a witness to the migratory realities shaping his generation, Nigerien filmmaker Boubacar Djingarey explores in his work the illusion of the European Eldorado. Through his film Les Cheveux noirs de Maïmouna, inspired by real stories, he examines the transformations, disillusionment and hopes that accompany the journey to Europe. It is a clear-eyed perspective that encourages African youth to rethink migration and believe in their own potential.
