AfricTivistes will be launching on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at 11 a.m. GMT a new information platform specialised on migration issues during a webinar themed “Migration Issue: Looking Beyond Sensationalism, Politicisation and Stereotypes”.
AfricTivistes’s Dialogue Migration project provides the public with a web platform where they co-produce and disseminate verified, contextualised and detailed information on migration, free from political divisions and sensationalism.
Once launched, the editorial team will produce reliable and balanced information on migration. The platform will also provide a space for information and dialogue on migration. It will act as a reference point for journalists and stakeholders working in this area and will also be a reliable source of information for individuals planning to migrate legally. In addition to fact-checking, the new platform will publish open data on the topic of migration namely reports and available resources.
This platform, fully developed by AfricTivistes, will contribute to changing the narrative around the issue of migration in order to have a more rights-based narrative and encourage respect for the human rights and dignity of migrants.
In the first phase of the Dialogue Migration Project, the editorial team will focus on migration news through original reports, portraits, interviews and investigations on the subject. There will also be a fact-checking section and a dialogue space for future « legal or illegal » migrants, young people, activists, members of civil society organisations, bloggers, web activists and media professionals.
